Scholarships

Postgraduate Bursaries

The University of Huddersfield, the School of Music, Humanities, and Media, and the Departments of Music and Music Technology offer a wide range of fee waivers, scholarships and bursaries for top post-graduate applicants. Stipends and paid teaching opportunities are available to PhD candidates on a competitive basis.  Though there is no specific cutoff date for applications, MPhil and PhD applicants applying for fee waivers/scholarships should submit applications by February 1. (Bursary application information for MA by Research applicants will be sent after the candidate has been admitted.)  Application procedures and criteria are subject to change – for the scholarships offered by the University, please contact the relevant office for further information.

CeReNeM/hcmf Scholarship
Jointly sponsored by CeReNeM and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. Supervision in composition/sonic art coupled with career mentoring from Graham Mckenzie, Artistic Director of hcmf. The scholarship includes the possibility performances associated with the festival.
Full-time PhD study
Full fee waiver plus £5,000 bursary
Currently held by Lefteris Papadimitriou; open for applicants beginning studies in 2011-12

Four subject-specific PhD scholarships of £8,500, named for individuals who have been awarded honorary degrees by the University of Huddersfield. The scholarships are available to full-time PhD applicants. For Home/EU students, the scholarship covers full tuition fees with remainder paid as bursary; for international students from outside of the EU, scholarship contributes to tuition fees.
