The University of Huddersfield, the School of Music, Humanities, and Media, and the Departments of Music and Music Technology offer a wide range of fee waivers, scholarships and bursaries for top post-graduate applicants. Stipends and paid teaching opportunities are available to PhD candidates on a competitive basis. Though there is no specific cutoff date for applications, MPhil and PhD applicants applying for fee waivers/scholarships should submit applications by February 1. (Bursary application information for MA by Research applicants will be sent after the candidate has been admitted.) Jointly sponsored by CeReNeM and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. Supervision in composition/sonic art coupled with career mentoring from Graham Mckenzie, Artistic Director of hcmf. The scholarship includes the possibility performances associated with the festival.

Four subject-specific PhD scholarships of £8,500, named for individuals who have been awarded honorary degrees by the University of Huddersfield. The scholarships are available to full-time PhD applicants. For Home/EU students, the scholarship covers full tuition fees with remainder paid as bursary; for international students from outside of the EU, scholarship contributes to tuition fees.
