Workshop

The ‘contemporary music business’: from artistic concept to realisation

‘The contemporary music business: from artistic concept to realisation.’

How does one approach and pitch a project to a festival or presenter; what works or doesn’t; developing an artistic concept, presentation of materials, cvs, networking etc.

Postgraduate composers and performers are invited to put forward project proposals which will be discussed by Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival Artistic Director, Graham McKenzie.

Please submit materials to Aaron Cassidy by Friday 16th April.

Christian Wolff in Concert

Christian Wolff will be awarded an honorary degree by the University of Huddersfield on 16th November 2009.  As part of his visit, a concert of his work is being presented by the edges ensemble (Joseph Kudirka, director), Philip Thomas, and Wolff himself.

CeReNeM Concert Series 2009-10

The 2009-10 academic year features an exciting series of concerts and workshops hosted by CeReNeM and will again include numerous visiting soloists and ensembles of international renown.  As in previous years, each of the visiting artists will perform pieces by CeReNeM’s postgraduate Composition students alongside works by more established composers.  Additionally, many of the guest performers will be available to offer coaching sessions for our Contemporary Music Performance students and will give workshops and reading sessions for undergraduate composers.

Guest artists are indicated below in blue.  Tentative repertoire is given where available, though is subject to change.  Additional information about the concerts will be posted on the CeReNeM and Music Department websites prior to the concert dates.  All concerts are held in either St Pauls Hall or Phipps Recital Hall.

CeReNeM Workshops & Masterclasses

CeReNeM invites some of the world’s pre-eminent contemporary music performers to lead workshops with Huddersfield University student composers and performers. In 2009-2010, performers include vocal soloists EXAUDI, the ELISION Ensemble, Jeremias Schwarzer (recorder), Barrie Webb (trombone), Neil Heyde (’cello) & Paul Archbold (electronics), Knoop/Ballon/Rosman trio (clarinet, ‘cello, piano) and the Goldberg Ensemble.
