Overlap of David's Die hohe Schule and Alard's Les maîtres classiques - George Kennaway


David's Die hohe Schule des Violinspiels is almost entirely made up of works from what is now referred to as the baroque period (although this was not a recognised musical category in the mid-19th century) - only the last two items, nos. 19 and 20, come from the later 18th century. No. 18 comprises 5 Caprices by Benda (2), Mestrino, Stamitz, and Locatelli; No. 20 is the violin solo part of Mozart's Haffner-SerenadeLes maîtres classiques covers a wider range, more thoroughly, from Corelli to the early 19th century.
