Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart » Violin-Viola Duos » Laforge, Théophile - Universal/Breitkopf & Härtel

Universal-Edition was founded in 1901 and by the end of the year had reached  plate numbers in the 800s. An arrangement was later concluded with Breitkopf und Härtel to publish Universal-Edition editions in its Volksausgabe series, using the original plates. The copy on this website is one of these and it was issued by Breitkopf und Härtel in 1909. The editor is given on the title page as Th. Laforge; this is probably Théophile Laforge, a violinist pupil of Sauzet, who became first professor of viola at the Paris Conservatoire. This has not, however, yet been confirmed from any independent source.
