Ludwig van Beethoven » Violin Sonatas (complete editions) » Grützmacher, Friedrich - Breitkopf und Härtel

Some at least of the sonatas were first issued separately. Hoffmeister lists op. 24 in January 1870, op. 30 no. 1 in July 1870, op. 30 no. 2 in September 1870, and op. 96 in April 1872.

In his arrangements, Grützmacher's frequently alters the text of the violin part to make it more idiomatic for the cello. He also makes changes to the piano parts, and at the beginning of the cello part of each sonata there is a footnote: 'Anmerkung: Bei Ausführung dieser Sonate kann die Original-Pianofortestimme nicht benutzt werden.' (Note: the oriignal piano part cannot be used to perform this sonata).
