Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy » Violin Concerto in E minor » Dont, Jacob - Weekes
Carries a Schlesinger plate number (S. 7368); Weeks distributed Schlesinger publications in England.
The edition is particularly interesting for a number of ossias of Dont's invention. He does not provide comprehensive fingering for the main themes of the first and second movements, perhaps deliberately to avoid imposing his own expressive intentions on the performer. Although there are some fingerings elsewhere in the work that have expressive as well as technical implications, Dont seems on the whole to have intended to provide technical rather than musical guidance for the performer.
