Response

I received quite a few comments on my podcast, many in the comment section itself and a few under my post on Facebook. Many found the topic to be interesting and gave their opinions on werepups after listening as I wanted to find out if people would buy a werepup and just their overall opinions on them.

One comment from ‘Sam’ read:

“Personally, I find them quite strange and slightly creepy but i think it’s really important to be open minded about these types of items as they do help people with loss. If they can help even one person then that’s great. I do appreciate them for their craftsmanship though. They are very detailed and obviously have a lot of care put into them. We’ll done to the artist!”

This shows that the listener has really engaged and really took into consideration the points made within the podcast about reasons people may buy a werepup and have then developed their own opinion on them after. Whilst they did still find the werepups themselves creepy, they could understand why people would buy them.

A Facebook comment from Suzanne Boyd read:

“Fantastic! I love anything to do with mythical beings…. never seen a werepup before… I think they are really cute… I would have one but I don’t think I could justify the spend xx’

This shows that they have an interest in this kind of product as they like mythical beings which was one of the given reasons people may buy them in the interview within the podcast so it shows that some people do actually like werepups and they aren’t just creepy.

Overall if I were to do this podcast again I would try and show more sides to the topic than I did and maybe go more in depth with reasons why people want a werepup such as psychological and behavioural reasons and look into those, possibly consult with a psychologist or someone who deals with behaviour of children in adults and analyse the product more. I would also aim to source the interview myself rather than have to ask permission to use a clip as that way I can be more specific with what I'm asking and get the answers I want.
