Experts warn bloggers and Instagram influeners are promoting bad diet tips

Social media bloggers and influencers are being accused of promoting unhealthy diet and fitness advice, experts warn.

Geordie Shore star, Marnie Simpson has been criticised for endorsing weight loss capusules on Instagram, just hours after annoucing she is pregnant.

Brands like Teame and Theskinnycaffee partner with reality stars to promote their products. Social media has been used as a key marketing tool, even though research shows that health tips recommended by influncers may not be as healthy as suggeseted.

Typical Instagram fitness images, which glorify a thin, boned body image are often damaging and harmful to young users on the site. Simpson's post attracted over 350,000 views, whilst recieving hate from online trolls disagreeing with the endoresment, being branded ''fake'' by fans. One user commented, ''Promoting bullsh**t products, she's clearly not taking them because she's pregnant''.

Simpson responded to the backlash in a video saying, ''They are weight loss and approved safe by the EFSA'', and further apologised to her 3 million + Instagram following.
