"Should we get Brexit done?" Podcast Feedback

Last week I uploaded a podcast named “Should we get Brexit done?”, in which I interviewed Jacob Halliday and asked him questions regarding Brexit and what he would be voting in the upcoming General Election. When reviewing the comments, it was refreshing to see different opinions instead of one general one. The feedback was very controversial however very informative.

I would like to thank anyone who had listened to the podcast and also the people that had left comments with their opinions on the matter at hand. I feel like this topic is relevant currently as many people don’t really like to voice their opinion about politics in person but commenting their political views gave them the chance to express their feelings.

I asked the listeners “What do you think about the topic at hand and would agree that we need to “Get Brexit done?” and this gained mixed reviews as some agreed and some gave reasons as to why they disagree with the question that had been presented.

One person briefly said: “A great podcast, I felt like it changed many of my own views on Brexit and agree that it should be getting sorted now!”. This backed up my statement that I closed the podcast with as I mentioned that the interview had changed my opinion on how Brexit would affect the country.

Another comment said: “I agree with Jacob as this is something I feel strongly about and also feel the country will be far better off in the long run…”

However, a couple of comments disagreed with the topic of Brexit and one listener commented: “I appreciate that others have different views, however, I feel that Brexit will cause further division amongst society and is not worth the potential poverty it could bring. Also, the comments made about the opposition leaders was certainly in bad taste…”

Another said “It’s dragged on for too long now, but I feel when we eventually leave we might not get a deal at all, which I feel would disadvantage the country in the long run and it will get harder for companies, especially those with overseas trade”

This was refreshing as the aim of the podcast was to get people discussing Brexit and also feel more comfortable with talking about their political views. However, one criticism that I received which I completely agree with was “I would say you could have interviewed someone who voted remain and other party voters to have a balanced view”. This will be taken into consideration for next time I produce a similar project.
