Boris Johnson set to reveal lockdown exit plan on Sunday

Ministers have resisted calls to explain the exit strategy - warning that to do so risks undermining the message to stay at home. Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove said some social distancing measures would remain in place until a vaccine has been developed. The Government would seek to restore people's lives to "as close to normal as possible". Although they are making a strategy for lockdown to be eased, staying at home is highly reccommended for the safety of you and your family members. Mr Johnson urged the international community to "pull together" in what he described as "the most urgent shared endeavour of our lifetimes".

Alongside all that, the Government has been racing to find ways to ease restrictions without putting public safety at risk. One solution is a contact-tracing app that can enable digital contact-tracing on a large scale. The app is designed to let people know if they have been in close contact with someone who later reports positive for Covid-19. The purpose of the contact-tracing app is to try and track down people and alert them of the need to self-isolate faster than traditional methods. The app is currently not available widely, but launched on the Isle of Wight on May 5. NHSX chief executive Matthew Gould said the app will be two to three weeks away for the rest of the country.
