Response- Gender specific jobs

In response to my recently uploaded podcast titled “gender specific jobs” I shared it on twitter with visuals but I didn’t manage to get any comments on there but I shared the planet radio link and got some comments and I really appreciate every one of them.
As to everything, everyone has different opinions. I strongly believe that the idea of gender specific jobs still exist and majority of the comments I got seemed to support me.
After uploading the podcast, I did some more research into the topic and I found some job applications looking for a specific gender, when we all know that this is discrimination and should not be allowed, everyone should be given a fair right to apply and even get employment at the said organisation. . I feel like it’s because women are seen to be more caring and in touch with their emotions compared to men so jobs like care assistant look for women applicants.
A particular comment left by Samuel got my attention “I Am an IT specialist and my work involves installation and integration. I think the world is changing. Women are taking up challenging careers now. We have a female member in our team and she is doing fine. She attracts attention anywhere we go for an installation. Because people think what she is doing is a male job.” Women seem to get unnecessary attention and praise when doing certain jobs that are deemed to be for men which isn’t supposed to be so.
As Samuel rightly said, the world is changing and being transgender is becoming widely accepted therefore I believe as a society, we should move away from the idea of gender specific jobs and focus on getting rid of this discrimination. Jobs aren’t something people are meant to be insecure about. As I mentioned in the podcast, as long as it makes you happy and makes you money, do what you love.
I’m glad my podcast sparked the thinking of my listeners and they also took their time in leaving a comment.
