LJD Presents- Podcast- Save The Rave- Response

My podcast save the rave was only available for a short period of time on the internet. I shared it with media hud which gained a response from fellow student Thomas Warren. Thomas posted “it looks to me there just hasn’t been enough. The music industry is key to so many entertainment industries. It is scary how much of it could go to what feels like the governments incompetence at best and full on disregard at worse!”
This is true, the UK’s music and nightlife industry brings in a staggering 5.2billion pounds a year and the country’s night life economy is worth over 66 billion pounds. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out how much taxes were to be missed should this industry plummet into the ground. However the governments disregard has not gone unnoticed. A petition called “let us dance” has brought in over 140,000 signatures demanding more support from the government, this said the government announced that only 1300 people was benefiting from the 1.5 billion pound recovery package/ Clearly enough is still not being done.
I also shared my link to my music and events journalist page, which only had 9 views more than likely due to how long my link was up there and the inactivity on my page. This said, my friends who have listened to my podcast it has sparked conversations about how eager we all are to get back on the dancefloors should restrictions be eased and we finally get let back out.

Finally I added my link to LinkedIn profile which had 62 views on my post, no one did comment but I did have a few inboxes about the topics raised in my podcast. Due to the hash tags I used in my post my following numbers went up clearly indicating people are listening to what I am talking about.

Overall it is clear to see it is a controversial subject whether the government are doing enough to support the UK’s music and nightlife industry. It is an issue that is now getting more attention due to factors such as petitions and the music communities standing together. Hopefully in the near future we will see a massive return for this industry and the rave will eventually be saved.
