COVID-19: pupils returning to school with new testing rules

Pupils have returned to school for two weeks and are dealing with the new COVID-19- measures being put in place in order to ensure their wellbeing and safety. Due to the success of the vaccination’s pupils are now being tested rapidly in order to identify the new variant of covid-19 and to reduce cases.

In Wales all primary schools are returning on 12th April whist other parts in the UK West Yorkshire and Ireland many students started their return on the 8th march. After Boris Johnson’s announcement to open the education sector including universities after months of enforced home schooling. so that key workers of the NHS children can receive support.

The new rules ensure that students and pupils will be tested in the first week of before they start school and will be given a compulsory home test to be carried out each week at home. These tests consist of nose swabs which gives a result in 30 minutes.

Testing is vital and parents will be given consent forms and must make sure pupils take part. Universities will also be sending home kits and testing centres will be open on site and students can book an appointment via online portal
