As a student as the University of Huddersfield, after listening to the podcast I have noticed some flaws and missing elements of the accessibility for disabled students. And what you're interviewee is saying is spot on, the University should definitely work with disabled students as they LIVE this life of constant stress and challenge, and through listening to them I believe it would make a BIG positive difference for them.

Thank you for sharing this! This is a really good and important piece.

Very informative!

A podcast supporting and advocating a very important issue!

I loved the podcast and I think it raises a lot of person and issues. Personally, as a wheelchair user, I would say things missing in the architectural development aspect is a mandatory accessibility course. Somewhere where the aspiring developers for this country are given tasks when they go around the local city. This can be either in a wheelchair, wearing one of the special glasses from the Royal Society for the blind, or other mobility aids. This would give them a better understanding of what it is like trying to be independent in a city or a town fully accessible. It’s amazing how many accessible shops you’re going to and they’ve got steps, or the disabled access is round the back and you have to wait for staff to open it and it’s in the middle of winter. All town or city planners should be required to consult with sections of the disabled community. Until things like this are done disability will not receive parity and we will not be able to be fully independent however determined we are

I will admit its something that I never thought about, however now that I think about it I can see many flaws with accessibility all around Huddersfield. I think it just needs to be brought to attention more, and make people realize just as it has done with myself.

Completely agree that Hudds needs to be more accessible. My mum is blind and some of the paths are awful, even for fully sighted people
