NHS Website crashes as thousands try to book booster vaccines

Vaccine-volunteering.jpgDemand for Covid 19 boosters has caused the NHS vaccine booking website to crash, as more than 100 000 try to book their third jabs.

The increase in demand came as the government brought forward the target for all eligible adults in the UK to be administered a booster vaccine before the new year. Earlier in the day, the NHS started operating a queueing system for people trying to book their vaccine on the website. It was meant to relieve strain on the site, but it ended up crashing hours later.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that at least one patient has died with the Omicron variant in the UK. He said the “best thing” people could do was get their booster jab when it they are called up.

There were 54 661 new coronavirus cases on Monday, as well as 38 deaths within 28 days of a positive test. 4713 of those are confirmed Omicron cases.
