Human rights & Newcastle United (Response)

Today is exactly one week after I submitted my first ever podcast. I wasn’t stressed about the comments as I’ve put a lot of heart and effort to create the best piece of work I possibly could. Despite this fact, my topic was a bit controversial so I guess I wasn’t sure what kind of feedback I will get.

Comments which I got from Zofia and Ellie showed that some of the people weren’t aware of the seriousness of this problem. Ellie wrote “It is not something I was aware of as I am not a huge football fan. I definitely think more attention should be brought to this. It is crazy to me that the deal was even approved.”  Whereas Zofia commented: “I wasn’t aware of the seriousness of this issue and that it is affecting Newcastle too.” I am really glad that I chose to cover this topic as it shouldn’t be pushed aside and forgotten. The Premier League shouldn’t accept this deal which is the reason why we can see it already. Chairman of the league Gary Hofmann decided to step down due to the backlash from the other English clubs. We should prevent a takeover like this from happening in the future, this is what my guest Yousuf Zubair said, and I fully agree with him.

Some of the other comments were about how I was presenting in the podcast. Taiba left feedback: “try to be a little clearer when you talk, sometimes when you're talking, the words can sound like they're jumbled up” where Mike had a completely different opinion: “You have a great voice. I'd listen to more of your podcasts. Although I'm not a sports fan, I imagine any subject you cover would sound great.” I think that it’s a personal thing if we like someone's voice or not although I know that after only 2,5 years which I have spent in the UK my English isn’t perfect and I will learn more and try to improve so I can get to the next level. I accept nice comments with a smile, negative ones are my motivation to work harder on the next piece of work.

The award for the effort which I’ve put into making this content came quickly. Thanks to the kindness from the admin of the University of Manchester Amnesty International group on Facebook I was able to share my podcast with students from a nearby university. I am grateful for the chance to share my work with other students and hopefully, in the future, we will have more opportunities to collaborate.
