Aware-pup of Werepups

This podcast looks at the increasingly new trend of baby reborns, focusing in particular on 'Werepups'. Each one is intricately crafted by Asia Erkison and are made to order.

I originally saw werepups for the first time in a twitter moments thread which showed someone carrying one in New York. Later one then appeared on This Morning besides Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby which featured an interview with a lady who had several werepups. From there I started to look a lot more closely into werepups, where you can get them, who makes them and why. I found them fasciniating and interesting as they are not something you see everyday, and it's that interest and curiousity that I hope to capture within this podcast and to show them in a different light. They often get mixed views with people being shocked by them at first but there is definitely more to them than meets the eye.

Great job Lucy! I can't wait to hear more shows!

I still don't quite understand the appeal for them, especially as they do look incredibly creepy but learning that they sometimes have sentimental value (i.e. dead pets etc.) has made me understand why some people choose to buy them more.

I love them and how they are unique to each person as it makes them more special kind of like a build a bear but more real also you can add some sentimental value to it through sending in things to do with loved ones and animal shedding which may seem weird but if that helps people still feel connected to lost ones that’s not a bad thing. Love them

Personally, I find them quite strange and slightly creepy but i think it's really important to be open minded about these types of items as they do help people with loss. If they can help even one person then that's great. I do appreciate them for their craftsmanship though. They are very detailed and obviously have a lot of care put into them. We'll done to the artist!

I think that they are very unique and they seem like a very helpful product for some people. I don't particularly have any strong feelings either way regarding them but appreciate their purpose for dealing with loss. Props to you for the amazing story!

I’ve heard about these before and remember seeing them on this morning. At first I was confused and thought they were a bit sick but then I thought they were actually quite cute. I looked them up and saw they do werekittens and would want one of those to look like my pet cat. Nice to see I’m not the only one wanting them for sentimental reasons.

In my opinion, these things have both a weird and intriguing factor about them. The weird factor obviously due to its realness and quality but they are intriguing as they can have sentimental value to people so i can entirely see why they are a real thing in todays society, it is 2018 after all. We live in an age of wonder...
