Gender specific jobs

There are certain jobs that we see to be gender specific.

Jobs such as carpentry, truck driving and anything that has to do with car repairs are seem to be male dominated while childcare, beauty and nursing are seem to be female dominated.

I interviewed Michael, a studentnurse and he explains his view on the topic.

Do you think the idea of gender specific jobs still exist?

I agree with your point of few in today society everyone is bound to judge on the type of jobs you own if it is associated with male jobs or female jobs. So yh a lot of patriarchal views are still in today!

Am an IT specialist and my work involves installation and integration. I think the world is changing. Women are taking up challenging careers now. We have a female member in our team and she is doing fine. She attracts attention anywhere we go for an installation. Because people thought what she is doing is a male job.

Thank you so much for commenting Samuel, it’s situations like this that makes us think. Assuming she was a man, she wouldn’t have gotten any attention at all
